China CAMC Engineering Co, a subsidiary of China National Machinery Industry Corporation, agreed a new contract with the Ethiopian Sugar Corporation to continue construction work on the BELES-1 sugar plant project, on Dec 17.

The $95-million project in Ethiopia’s Amhara Region involves the construction of a raw sugar workshop, a refined sugar workshop and a combined power station for the BELES-1 sugar plant, as well as the supply of raw materials, design work, civil engineering, installation, and training. The entire project is expected to be finished in around 14 months.

The building of the new sugar plant will help CAMC Engineering further expand its engineering operations and enlarge its share of the African market.
